As Thanksgiving was on Thursday 23rd of November, we did various activities in primary and secondary school. We showed an animated video of the history of Thanksgiving and the reasons why it is celebrated. We also did fun activities to make the children think about what they are thankful for. The children in primary school drew around their hands, wrote messages saying what they are thankful for and decorated them with patterns and colours. These hands were used as feathers to decorate turkeys throughout the school.
In secondary the language assistant told the students about the history and traditions of Thanksgiving in the USA, using videos and presentations. Then the students were asked to write a card saying what they were thankful for. We made a big poster which was displayed in the secondary corridor.
And you, what are you thankful for?
